Possibly built to celebrate Yema watches 40th anniversary, this unworn watch would have retailed for $225.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The styling and sizing is definitely mid eighties, but the back has the number 40 writ large across is. Yema were founded in 1948, so if this was for forty years this would fit 1988. The other evidence is the movement in this watch is a Hattori calibre. Hattori is a Seiko company, and Seiko bought Yema in 1988.
CONDITION
Yema made some really interesting and desirable watches in the past, with chronographs like the Rallyegraf fetching thousands. Like an awful lot of companies they did struggle during the quartz crisis, and for a while were bailed out by the French government before Seiko stepped in. In this light is more understandable why you would celebrate still being in business by 1988 by making a special watch.
It is difficult to fault the condition of this watch. The quartz movement is running perfectly, and we will fit a new battery before this is sent out to you. The bracelet has barely a mark, and is full length. You do not need any special tools to adjust the bracelet either. The box does have a few marks, which looks like stickers peeled off. The instruction booklet has the $225 price stuck on the back page.
