The Omega Seamaster has been around since 1948, but this Newport version is very different to today’s bulky designs. Model reference 396.0964.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Normally we can date Omega watches from the serial number on the movement, but this watch has had a replacement movement at some point so we can not be as accurate. However the Omega vintage website shows the model was launched in 1982, so the watch can not be older than this date.
CONDITION
This is very cheap for an Omega Seamaster, but there are compromises. The dial is original, but has patina. As mentioned, the movement has been swapped for a Swiss ETA but it is the same movement that Omega used, they just called theirs the calibre 1432. The short bracelet will stop many guys from being able to wear the watch. But it is all running well, and the slim case and integrated bracelet is a good look. Similarly the cross hatched bezel catches the light nicely, and the very slim profile of the watch would have this sitting low and light on the wrist. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet has been shortened and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case, crown and clasp.
