On the original mesh bracelet, this 5x signed Technos Dover houses a decent ETA automatic movement with quick set date.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This is not a watch it is possible to date completely accurately – Technos never registered the name Dover (but Bulova did!) and we can find no adverts from the time, nor was it launched at Basel watch fair so it is not listed there. But the movement used was available from 1971 to 1979, so we have just picked a mid point year of 1975 as our best estimate of when this watch was made.
CONDITION
This Dover model has a smaller than average case size, which does make it comfortable to wear. The dial has a very slight pink tint to it, almost like mother of pearl, and it is in good condition. The case and glass do have a few marks, but nothing really serious. The movement is signed Technos, but is an ETA 2824 automatic which runs at 28,800 bph and can be hand wound also. It is all working as it should do, and the watch feels well specified and put together – it doesn’t feel like corners have been cut anywhere. The bracelet is full length and has a sliding clasp, which is signed on both sides. Like almost every mesh bracelet there is some twisting evident, but it is more noticeable when the watch is laid flat than when you are wearing it. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and clasp.
