HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Sadly with no paperwork it is very hard to date Milus watches. The movement used in this watch was launched in 1971, and the company who made it was legally dissolved in 1979. The movement did stay in production, and even is today as an ETA 7001, so we are a bit stick. Mid seventies feels right, but we would prefer more evidence to date it than we currently have.
CONDITION
Milus were founded in 1919, and for a small brand they have had some interesting watches in their history. Milus watches were part of a survival kit for US pilots to barter with if they were shot down at one point! This square watch has one of our favourite movements inside – the Peseux 7001. This slim movement has been used as a base for very diverse brands, from Blancpain to Nomos, and in current ETA7001 name is still in production – current price is £320 plus VAT. This watch matches that movement with white hands to provide a very good contrast against the black/dark grey patterned dial. Remarkably this watch is still on a signed Milus leather strap, which doesn’t look barely used either. The original buckle is still fitted too. The cas eis all stainless steel, and there are some marks across the top of the case – it could be these were done in the shop and the watch never sold? We will never know for sure. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown, buckle and strap.
