This Certina Club 2000 is a classic seventies design in a chunky stainless steel case. Model reference 6801 002.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We can date Certina’s pre 1974 with a database, but this watch’s serial number is later than the database runs to so it must be after 1974. The movement used is in production circa 1975/76, which combined with what we know about the serial numbers make us believe this watch was made circa 1975.
CONDITION
This is a nice example of the Club 2000. It has the original bracelet, with the signed sprung clasp, and the brushed bezel is in very nice condition. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The top links to the bracelet have a slight twist to them. The blue faded dial is both clean and legible, and the red second hand is complimented by tiny red dots on the dial. Inside you have a Certina 25-011 automatic movement, with seventeen jewels and a quickset date. It can also be manually wound, via the signed crown, but you do need to be have quite good finger grip to do that due to the design of the case/crown. That movement was based on an ETA 2783, so if you needed spares in the future they should be possible to get without going to Certina. The caseback still has some QC stickers on, and given the overall condition of this watch it does not appear to have been worn much.
