A bit of fun, this Disney Cheshire Cat has a novel way of telling the time, powered by a Seiko hand wound movement. Model reference 5000-8000.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This wasn’t officially a Seiko product, but they probably made it under license for someone else. But the movement used in the watch is a Seiko design, which was introduced in 1973. The Disney version of Alice in Wonderland was released in 1951.
CONDITION
If you are known as a watch fan, people often ask what you are wearing today. Sliding this from under a cuff should make everyone smile, and there is nothing wrong with that! The hands are the Cheshire Cat’s arm’s and the seconds are indicated by the Cheshire Cat’s head endlessly revolving! The movement is a basic manual wind 7 jewel Seiko 50C, but it is ticking away nicely and holds reasonable time. The case is chromed and has a few marks, but this was never a super expensive watch, so to last as it has done so well is a credit to Seiko The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. But the purple suits perfectly!

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
