With it’s quirky ridged case, and a nice Peseux manual wind movement, this is a men’s Edox watch model we have never seen before.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
With no serial numbers to use, Edox are not easy to date. But the movement used in this watch was first launched in 1968, so the watch can not be older than this. This is not ideal dating evidence but the best we have.
CONDITION
Obviously the first thing that strikes you is the case design. with these parallel ridges. They are very unusual, serve no purpose other than decoration, but at least they do that well. Then you see the jet black dial with hands with white paint, making them very legible. The Peseux 7040 movement was a bonus – Peseux are especially good at making thin, two handed watch movements and are generally a step up from AS or ETA movements – if you notice several of the jewels are set in chantons (gold colours settings), which is a high grade sign. On the down side the acrylic crystal has a small mark on the top left corner – it is not cracked, it just appears to be a defect in the acrylic. There are also some light marks to the crystal that don’t want to polish off. This watch is signed on the dial, case back, movement and the crown. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
