Le Cheminant watches have a small but keen collectors base, and this one has a burr walnut effect dial to really make it stand out.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the movement production dates we know this watch would have been available new in circa 1965. We can’t be more accurate than that in this case, but if you know more then please do contact us.
CONDITION
It is unusual to see a dial like this. The effect is also three dimensional, as the burr walnut pattern is random in a way only nature can be. The gilt lettering and hands actually provide a sharp contrast, making the watch very legible. The case is gold plated, and shows very little wear – the graining on the case top is clearly visible and unscathed. Inside the case, that was designed to be waterproof and has a screw on stainless steel case back, is a 17 jewel FHF 96 movement ticking away nicely. The leather strap is new. Le Cheminant have a history going back to 1822, and while they are difficult to accurately date they have something about them that means we keep buying them (as do our customers!)
