This Roamer Rotodate 44 is in wonderful condition, and the 44 jewel automatic movement is housed in a stainless steel, patented waterproof case.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

We know that the in house MST automatic movement, calibre 437, was used between 1963 and 1966.  You can find more data on this movement here.  The owner of the vintage Roamer website only has one watch with calibre 437, which shares some similarities with this watch, and he describes his as an early one.  We think this watch was made circa 1964.

CONDITION

The watch is in great order.  There are a few tool marks on the case back, possibly from someone trying to open this without knowing how – The Patent (brevete) numbers for this clever design are listed on the case back.  To access the movement you remove the split stem crown (this one is signed RW), then split the case, then the movement comes out of the front.  The domed dial is great, and we especially like the small Pm written on the inner bezel near six.  We don’t know why it is there, but it is and comparing this to others it should be too.  The movement is working well, including the semi quickset date.  The 44 jewels are all functional, including the ruby ball bearings for the auto rotor.  The golden hands match the hour markers, and the modern style leather strap is new.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
