An inexpensive men’s manual wind wristwatch from Monvil, and a welcome addition to any collection.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

The movement in this watch was made circa 1960.  This is not ideal dating information and we could be a few years out, so this is a watch to buy because you like it rather than a definite birth year watch.

CONDITION

If you like it, buy it.  This is simple advice, and this is a simple watch with some nice details.  We don’t know much on Monvil either, so we can’t help there.  The movement is a 15 jewel calibre 233-60 from Cupillard, a French Ebauche maker and this is why the watch is not marked Swiss.  The case is chromed and in nice but not perfect condition, with a screw on stainless steel case back.  The dial is the main attraction, with applied hour markers and hands with lume infill.  The centre detail is a faux guilloche pattern is still interesting, even if showing some patina.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
