These early vintage Seiko watches, like this Unique, are becoming harder and harder to find. Model reference J13009.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This watch pre dates the time where Seiko added individual serial numbers to all their watches. We can see from a 1956 catalogue they used the same wider S E I K O logo, but we have found other Unique models with serial numbers from 1956, so this watch must pre date them but not by much.
CONDITION
With a name like Unique, you don’t really expect a very conventional three handed dress watch. But this is what we have, in a steel case with a manual wind movement and classic (not unique though) styling. Everything is done nicely, but why not call it a Laurel or similar model line? However, this Unique uses a hardy 15 jewel movement that is wound via the crown. The movement is signed Seikosha, which was the earlier form of Seiko, and Seikosha could still be found on the companies clocks in the 1950’s. The stainless steel case is all good, and it has drilled lugs for easy strap changes. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case and movement.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
