HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The movement used in this watch was in production between 1952 and 1960, and we have picked a mid point year.
CONDITION
1940’s and 1950’s Movado watches are highly collectible, and nothing like the modern offerings from the company with the same name. The movements back then were in house design, with many patents protecting their unique inventions. This watch has their manual wind calibre 127 movement, with seventeen jewels and shock protection. The reason this watch is cheaper than most Movado watches is we believe this has had a dial restoration in the past, and the collector community generally prefer original dials. But if you like the black dial and do not fancy spending double the amount then you can save a significant amount of money here. The case is 20 micron gold plated, and does show some signs of wear which should be expected on the watch of this age. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case (with the Movado logo of a hand holding a pocket watch) and movement.
