With a Venus movement the Cornavin Datocor would have been a sought after model back in the fifties, and practical today.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
Cornavin were founded in 1922, but on their own website they say they took off in the fifties when they became one of the first Swiss watch companies to offer a big date complication – this also fits perfectly with the production dates for this movement.
CONDITION
The movement is the star here. The manually wound Venus 216 has two date discs which can be quick set via the pusher at two. The ability to quick set the date is very important at the end of the month – if left alone the movement will count to 39 dates each month! This is demonstrated in the video. The copper tone movement is all running nicely and the only other watch we have had with this movement before was a Breitling, showing it was not a cheap thing to make. The case is 20 micron gold plated which is showing some wear on the lugs and bezel mainly, and the case size is small by today’s standards but would be correct for the period. The dial is original and has patina of age. The vegan strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
