An early manual wind Exactus watch, with a fantastic dial and finished in rose gold plating.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From a combination of knowing that Exactus first registered their name in June 1945, and the styling and size, we date this watch to circa 1948.
CONDITION
The watch is in very good condition for the age. The worst parts are the rose gold plating has worn through on the lugs, and the hour hand has lost some of the lume. However the upside is the dial is full of detail and as clean as you could hope for. The case was originally waterproof, which has stopped the effects of age and cigarette smoke making the dial dirty (we don’t know that the owner smoked, but it was more common to smoke than not back when this was new). The coin edged bezel is also a nice touch, as is the red writing on the dial. we have fitted a new crystal and leather strap, so it is ready to wear.
