Nicknamed the Scarab after the beetle shaped case, this WW2 period Omega is sought after.  Model reference CK 2014.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

Omega movement serial numbers during this period covered many years, so an absolutely accurate date is difficult to get.  However we have had a Scarab model before that we went tot the expense of getting an Extract from the Archives for.  The extract confirmed that that was was made in October 1942, and the serial number for this watch is about 100,000 more so 1943 seems likely.

CONDITION

These watches are rare, and we are very pleased to have found another so soon after selling the first one.  Any watch built during the war that wasn’t intended for military use is rare, but this case design makes this especially rare.  The fixed lugs, the inset crown, the 35mm case size are all unusual for the time.  This watch has the centre seconds movement, Omega calibre 23.4SC, which is the right calibre for this watch (as confirmed on Omega’s own website).  The dial has been restored and repainted to a very high standard – very few dial restorers will even attempt to print a 1/5th second ring around the outside.  The hands look to be the original ones.  The case is very good, with just a few marks.  The countersunk crown is large and not signed, just like the ones in the books and the last one we had.  The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.

This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.

Please see the HD video for more detail.  All photos and videos are part of the description and are of the actual watch unless mentioned.  We do not photoshop any pictures, and the images are copyright of birthyearwatches.com and should not be used without permission.
