HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
After supplying Omega with photos, many Swiss Francs and the serial number on the movement they have returned an extract from the archives, therefore we can accurately date this watch to being made on October 17th, 1942, and it was delivered to Germany.
CONDITION
We had never seen this style of case before on any Omega, but this is not surprising given how rare this model is. Before we bought it we wanted to find other examples, which wasn’t hard, but we did discover adverts from the time with this shape case. And it is unsurprising that it is rare – the CK 2014 was launched in 1938, so before long the entire world surrounding Switzerland were fighting. The main production would have switched to military watches or watches with gold cases (always good for currency in any country). There are other things that make this stand out though – the case is nicknamed after the scarab beetle, but it is also large for the time at 35 mm. Inside is an Omega calibre 26.5, manual wind with a large subseconds dial and running well. And the rest of the dial is in very good shape too, with the blued hands shimmering nicely. It is hard to find another one of these, but in this condition we wish you good luck! The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
