Few companies have the heritage of Longines to allow remakes of their back catalogue, but with modern twists. Model reference L2.832.4.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the guarantee card, which matches the model and serial number on the case back, we can accurately date this watch to being sold in December 2017. You can read an independent review by Jack Forster from 2016 here.
CONDITION
For a Heritage model, Longines raid their extensive back catalogue and update a classic watch with modern specifications. So this Longines Heritage COSD is based a WW2 model that was issued to Paratroopers. COSD stands for Company Ordnance Supply Depot, and shouldn’t be confused for the chronometer rating COSC. As with many re issues, the 2017 watch is bigger and better spec – sapphire crystal, automatic movement, calendar with quick set etc but probably the best upgrade is the case is solid stainless steel, whereas the original was base metal. The look is very military, from the railroad minute track found on the Dirty Dozen watches to the broad arrow on the dial (to the best of our knowledge this watch was never issued to the British military, which the broad arrow or Pheon normally indicates). Inside the case you have the Longines L.619.2 movement, which is their version of the ETA 2892-A2. You will find the same movement in more expensive watches, and it is all working well. The case is good overall, with a few marks to the wide, flat bezel. The leather strap is an original Longines item with some wear, probably the strap that came on the watch from new. It has the Longines steel buckle still fitted too. This model was also available on a green NATO style strap when new, and that was $200 cheaper.
This watch will be supplied with the original presentation boxes, guarantee card, instruction book and our Certificate of Authenticity. The outer cardboard box is in poor condition with the front flap completely separated, but the inner wooden box is good.
This watch has been checked against the Watch Register and has not been reported as lost, stolen or implicated in fraud, and a copy of that certificate will also be included.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon. By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
