HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This model was made to celebrate the 135th anniversary of Cuervo Y Sobrinos and the centre disc on the exhibition case back shows the dates 1882- 2017.
CONDITION
Cuervo Y Sobrinos were established in Havana, Cuba, and their peak time was the 1950’s. There store was visited by Winston Churchill, Ernest Hemingway, Clark Gable, Albert Einstein and basically anyone of note who was visiting Havana. As part of the revolution the store was nationailsed between 1965 and 1996, and watch production was resumed in 1997. Nowadays they have their headquarters in Ticino, Switzerland, and still have a shop and museum in Havana.
The Historiador model is still available new – not this anniversary edition but pretty close – for £2,460. Our watch uses a Sellita SW300-1 25 jewel automatic movement, nicely finished with the Cuervo Y Sobrinos name on the rotor. The sapphire glass allows you to see the very nicely patterned dial, with applied hour markers and date at six. The horned lugs show signs that this watch has been worn – these marks would polish out easily but we don’t polish watch cases here. The leather strap is new, and has the original buckle fitted to it -albeit the buckle does show some marks. The original strap is very tired but will be included in the package.

This watch has been checked against the Watch Register and has not been reported as lost, stolen or implicated in fraud, and a copy of that certificate will also be included.
