HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
We bought this watch new in December 2017.
CONDITION
The watch is new and has only been worn for photography, so this is more of a review than a condition report.
We don’t buy many new watches, but when we do it has to be interesting. The 262kHz technology in this quartz watch is very cool – quartz watches normally run at 32kHz, but Bulova use a specially shaped quartz crystal to increase this frequency and this delivers a chronograph had that sweeps in the same manner as a mechanical watch. The constant seconds hand at the subdial at 6 also beats twice a second. Away from the movement, which is also used in the Bulova Moonwatch reissue, this is a massive watch and you really know you are wearing it. The 300m depth rating is very good, the bezel has 120 clicks in one direction only, quite rightly for divers watches. The rubber strap is comfortable and long, and has a PVD coated and signed buckle. The glass is sapphire, and while there is a lot of lume on the dial it is not as bright as say a Seiko Monster or a G. Gerlach. However, if you want a big watch that has quality and good horology inside this is worth considering.
