This JS Watch 101 10 Year Edition Antique White Dial limited edition is a pure thing of joy.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This 101 model was one of the first watches produced by this tiny company back in 2005, and the 10th anniversary was celebrated by this tenth anniversary model that is still in production. Using a rule of thumb production rate you get to circa 2018, and in 2019 JS Watch started fitting rose gold plated rotors. As this has the stainless rotor we are happy with circa 2018. UPDATE – JS Watch have confirmed this was sold in June 2016 in their store.
CONDITION
In April 2017 Hodinkee did an article on one of the smallest watchmakers in the World, and certainly one of the remotest. By chance we were heading to Reykjavik that same month, so when we stumbled across the small shop (25 m2) and met Gilbert O. Guðjónsson we were very impressed, not least with the wall of fame of famous owners. But Gilbert also spent time talking about watches, and he had just celebrated fifty years in the trade. But he was still curious, and took the back of the automatic alarm watch I was wearing so he could understand how it worked. We were enamoured with his watches too, but just could not afford one at the time. Some of the photos were taken at the time.
Four years later and much searching, we am pleased to be able to offer his signature piece, the 101. Only 3,700 will ever be made, and production is so limited that it embarrasses the big boy company limited editions. JS Watch Co. makes about 10 watches a week, from across their ranges, hence you rarely ever see one. Exclusivity guaranteed.
To us, this is the perfect specification. Antique white dial, 38mm case, and still on the original ostrich leg leather strap. The watch is difficult to fault condition wise, and we can supply a new tan calf leather ostrich pattern strap if preferred.
