De Grisogono were famous for making fabulous jewels for the ultra wealthy, and their watches followed the same lines.  Model reference N06.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the supplied paperwork we can show that this watch was sold in September 2006.

CONDITION

De Grisogono was founded in Geneva in 1993 and ran until 2020.  They specialised in black diamonds and bold designs, and amassed quite a following before filing for bankruptcy following the original founder leaving the company and new management taking over.  Only the very well heeled with have come across them before though.  The list price for the gold version of this watch in 2007 was $21,900 – in comparison a Royal Oak in gold was $21,000, and a gold Rolex Datejust was $13,600.  But if you are spending $500,000 on diamond jewellery then dropping an extra $20k on a watch doesn’t seem like such a big decision!  What De Grisogono did well was not to make watches like anyone else did.  The styling is individual, which of course will divide opinions, but also that adds appeal and stops comparisons.  The Instrumento Grande looks like no other watch on the market we can think of.  The lugs are hinged, to make the large case fit snugly around the wrist.  The case also has a sapphire glass window in the non crown side, just because they could.  The movement is an ETA 2892-A2, with a module to make the big date work.  At 31 the date changes to 01, and the date can be quick set too.  The movement is finished in black – again, something we haven’t seen.  Everything is working correctly.  The De Grisogono leather strap is very good, and attached to a signed clasp too.  The detail on the dial is exceptional – especially the highly polished two piece hour markers in rose gold to match the hands.  The curved glass and the polished case do make this difficult to photograph, with the dial detail sometimes not looking as good in the photos as it does in the flesh.  The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown, buckle and strap.

This watch will be supplied with the original inner presentation box, papers and our Certificate of Authenticity.

This watch has been checked against the Watch Register and has not been reported as lost, stolen or implicated in fraud, and a copy of that certificate will also be included.

From 1st September 2021 we will be planting a tree for every watch we sell, working with the International Tree Foundation (Est 1922) to make this business positive on carbon.  By buying anything pre owned you are effectively reusing what already exists, but this takes it further and makes us feel good.
