HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
The warranty card for this watch is dated for January 2003, and while the jeweller who originally sold the watch didn’t complete the serial number on the warranty card there is no doubt that the card is for this exact watch thanks to the full model reference number, which only appears in abbreviated form on the case back.
CONDITION
The Flagship Chronograph was available with either a black or white, and you could also have an 18k gold case if your budget allowed. There was a cheaper option without the bracelet, but you are usually better to buy the watch on the bracelet if possible – it is cheap to swap the bracelet to leather if you want, but very expensive to add a bracelet to a leather strap watch. This Longines features their L650 calibre automatic movement, with thirty seven jewels. It is nicely finished and visible via the exhibition case back, and based on the ever popular ETA 2892. It is a shame the automatic winding mechanism covers the chrono functions, as this movement has a column wheel rather than cam switched start stop mechanism that is higher end than most is this price range. The watch is also refreshingly slim for a complex chronograph watch, coming in at well under 11mm and wearing very nicely indeed. The matt white dial has a nice texture when visible up close, and is in good condition. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
