A classic pepsi bezel Seiko Kinetic divers watch, using their in house technology. Model reference 5M62-0A10

From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in July 2001.

Seiko launched their self powered quartz movements in 1988 under the AGS (automatic generating system) brand, before switching the branding to Kinetic. Kinetic makes a lot of sense, because it is movement that keeps the watch powered. Instead of a battery the quartz movement has a capacitor that stores power, and that capacitor is charged by a rotor spinning in the back of the watch, just like an automatic watch winds the spring (why is this simple tech’ not fitted to phones?) . The capacitors last about ten years and are not expensive nor difficult to fit. We will install a new capacitor before sending the watch out, so it will be delayed a few days in order that we gat the freshest parts. The watch has a few light marks that a 20 year old watch will have, but no serious damage. The unidirectional 120 click bezel is smooth, if just very slightly off centre, and the quick set date is working perfectly. The long bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.

This watch will be supplied with the original presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
