HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the guarantee card, which has the same serial number as on the watch case back, we can accurately date this watch to being sold in September 1998.
CONDITION
The 6000 series was launched as a new flagship by TAG Heuer in 1995, and was available in a lot of style variations, all designed by Jorg Hysek. This copper dial is one of the scarcer versions, and this is complimented by having the complex bracelet which is also one of the most comfortable bracelets we have ever worn. This is also a later dial style, with arabic numerals replacing the stick hour markers of the earlier models. To match the good looks you get a very good movement, COSC Chronometer rated ETA 2894-2, which is still used today as a rebranded calibre 17 by TAG Heuer. The bracelet on this watch has some marks from being worn, as does the edge of the case. This are light marks. The dial is superb, as are the hands and hour markers. The sapphire crystal, with date magnifier, is unmarked. The screw down crown works smoothly, and the movement is running really nicely at +4 seconds a day on the timegrapher. The papers include the instructions and the COSC certificate, which is quite rare and again the serial number matches the watch. While the really rare 6000 models, such as the Platinum case (only 99 made), McLaren F1 versions that were given away with the supercar and the 18k gold versions fetch thousands, this is more affordable.
