Japanese market Citizen 1481010 quartz direct read watch.  Highly collectible.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the caseback we can accurately date this watch to 1997.  This range of watches was exclusively made for the Japanese market between 1997 and 2003.  This one uses the 6038 module, and seems quite scarce This website dedicated to the 1481010 models doesn’t have any pictures that we could find of this particular model (model number 6038-L16258), but does explain a little more about the history of these.

CONDITION

The unpolished case is all in good shape, save for light scratches.  The outer dial tells the hour, then the middle hour tells the minutes.  Just visible is the inner dial, where a red triangle shows the seconds.  The bracelet is full sized and will fit most wrists – that is important, as a lot of these Japan only watches have been resized over the years to fit a smaller wrist.  We have cleaned the strap in our ultrasonic bath, but not refinished it.  The glass does have some marks, most noticeably right in the centre (which is also the high point of the glass).  We have fitted a new battery and the watch also comes with the bottom half of the original plastic box – the top half is missing completely sadly.  Half a box is better than none though!

SIZE

40.7mm wide including the crown, 10.7mm thick. Takes a 19mm strap.  The bracelet will fit a maximum wrist size of approximately  208mm.
