HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the caseback we can date this watch to being made in 1995. The watch was then sold in 1997, so either year could be considered valid.
CONDITION
Condition wise, it is quite difficult to fault this watch. If we are being picky, there are some small tool marks on the caseback where the battery has been changed. The large box is tatty, as all the Omega cases of this period are (the PU leather degrades and flakes off). with the watch we have the original strap and buckle, both signed Omega items, the hang tag which has a matching serial number to the watch and the paperwork. The receipt shows a contribution of £300, but not the full price of the watch sadly. The bezel is 18kt gold, which is something Omega often does, and is seamlessly mixed with the stainless steel case. The dial is faultless, as is the glass. The model number is 196.2397. This is as good as you are likely to ever find.
