HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in January 1990.
CONDITION
The 95GS was launched in 1988 and relaunched the Grand Seiko brand. According the official Grand Seiko website, it is considered the first quartz Grand Seiko (the Grand Quartz models of the 1970’s were never technically called Grand Seiko). With the new movement accurate to less than a second out per month, it did take over from the incredible accuracy of the 70’s models but with a modern, thin case. The movement is the 7 jewel 9587A, and it is working correctly including the quick set date. The movement still has the thin metal protector too, which are often lost at battery changes. The signed crown is still fitted. The case back and the clasp still have the protective film on, but the watch has been worn – you can see some minor marks on the bracelet. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The original AB63A bracelet is not the longest and spare links are not easy to find, so measure your wrist carefully before ordering.
