The upper mid range Seiko Dolce models have a sweep second hand and were the forerunner to the Spring Drive. Model reference 5S21-5A20 or SACW020.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in December 1989. We have also found this model in the 1990 catalogue, at a price of ¥60,000, which was about half the cost of Grand Seiko and double the cost of a more basic model.
CONDITION
These are a bit of a sleeper model, as a lot of people do not realise you can get a quartz watch with a sweep second movement. Calibre 5s21A has a super smooth sweep seconds and no wording of Quartz on the dial, so no one would know except the wearer. The case is pretty slim, and has a beveled crystal at the edges . The gold plated corners do show some wear in the photos, but in real life you have to look hard to notice that. The gold dial has a fine pattern across it and is very clean. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case and movement.
