A multi function large Omega Polaris, with 1/100th seconds display, made for the Olympics. Model reference 386.1232.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
This limited edition of just 1,000 watches was made for the Calgary and Seoul Olympics in 1988, as stated on the case back, Omega were the official timing partners of the games that year.
CONDITION
This limited edition was basically the same watch as the standard reference 386.1231, but with the special plaque on the case back. That is not bad thing, as things like the instructions for the complex calibre 1670 movement can be found online here. All functions appear to work perfectly, and fittingly for an Olympics watch it does have lap times, 1/100th seconds and even a memory lap time feature. The case is made of Stainless Steel and features a thick filling of solid 18k gold that remains an Omega trade secret to how it was produced. Most of the Polaris models are basic three handed watches and have small, 31mm cases, but this one is scaled up to a nice 38mm case. The bracelet centre links are all capped in 18k gold. All is in nice condition, with just light wear marks. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is quite long and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case, crown and clasp.
This watch will be supplied with our branded reusable presentation travel case and our Certificate of Authenticity.
This watch has been checked against the Watch Register and has not been reported as lost, stolen or implicated in fraud, and a copy of that certificate will also be included.
