A very original men’s Seiko 7A48-7000, still on the original bracelet, with all functions working correctly.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in February 1985. We have found this model in the Seiko catalogue from 1985, on the same bracelet (AA05B), with a price of ¥48,000.
CONDITION
The 7A** range of watches from Seiko are always popular. Much larger than most watches of their day, they also pack a top quality quartz movement that is completely serviceable. The 7A28 was the first analogue watch to show 1/10th of a second on the chronograph, the 7A38 added a day and date window to that and the top of the range was the 7A48 which had a date hand and a full, 29 1/2 day moonphase at 12.
One of the reasons that make the 7A series popular is the size. With the majority of watches from this period being rectangular, small by modern standards, slim and gold plated, these are a simple choice if you prefer a larger watch. There is a hint of gold – the inner bezel, the crown and pushers, and the applied hour markers – but the vast majority of the watch is stainless steel including all the bracelet (earlier models had plated centre links, which can show wear). Everything is working correctly and we will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is full length and our sister website, SpareLinks.com, may have extra links if required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and clasp.
