With a slinky integrated bracelet, an ultrathin case and a solid 14k gold bezel this Seiko Credor is a real looker. Model reference 5930-5360.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in May 1982. While we can not find this model in the 1982 catalogue, which was because this Credor was likely only intended for the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM), there is a Dolce model which looks very similar, save for being all gold plated. That Dolce cost ¥120,000, when the Grand Quartz Seiko’s varied from ¥75,000-150,000, so this was not a cheap watch to buy.
CONDITION
Gold had just come down a bit from historic highs, so it would have been rare to find a watch with a solid gold bezel in 1982. But, as we say, this was not a cheap watch to buy or produce. Ultrathin (under 5mm thick) watches are always trickier to make, and the bracelet must have took some time to make too. The bracelet needs to be tailored to the wrist, and often these have been cut too short for a lot of wrists, but this one is pretty long. The bracelet has minimal twisting, and no snagging edges. The case has a couple of marks on the non crown side, shown clearly in the photos. Inside the case is Seiko’s 6 jewel 5930A quartz movement, showing just two hands, and it is all working well. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The dial is very nice, with the gold hands making a nice contrast against the linen pattern. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and clasp.
