HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in May 1981. We have found this model in a 1981 Seiko catalogue, where it had a price of ¥55,000 – about the same as the King Quartz range and almost triple the cost of their basic quartz watches.
CONDITION
With one quartz crystal concentrating on the timing, a second crystal could be fitted to fine tune the first by adjusting it for temperature. The result of such technology is evident today, as this 45 year old watch keeps time to +0.09 of a single second per day. You also get a parchment dial finish, and in impressively thin case, albeit with a few marks from being worn. We will install a brand new battery in the all metal calibre 9641 movement before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is not by Seiko, but a high quality Bambi item. The bracelet is full length and adjusted by a sliding clasp, so no special tools are required. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case and movement.
This watch will be supplied with our branded and reusable zipped travel case and cleaning cloth, and our Certificate of Authenticity.
