HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1980.
CONDITION
This is a Seamaster that we have not seen before, and it has a lot more that rarity going for it. The most popular dial colour searched for is black, and the most popular case shape is round for a start. But past those generalities we have a high quality calibre 1332 quartz movement that has seventeen jewels and even has Cotes de Geneve striped decoration on the bridges. This all metal construction was going for high quality when the majority of the rest of the manufacturers were trying to make quartz movements cheaper and faster. You adjust the hours via the crown – ideal for travelers who can skip to a different time zone in a second, and you adjust the minutes and seconds via the pusher at 2. The 1332 movement was deemed that accurate that you wouldn’t need to adjust the minute hand often, and you can see how this works on the video. This watch is on an integrated bracelet, and importantly this is long enough for most wrists. This bracelet is all stainless steel, and was also used on the Calypso II divers watches. The outside of the links are raised, and this solid link bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The dial is very good, and unusual in having the hour numbers on the chapter ring in the style of some military watches. This Seamaster is smaller than a modern watch, but the slim case helps the case feel a little larger than it is.
