The Omega Memomaster was the original Swiss smartwatch, able to set calendar alarms. Model reference 382.0801.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1979.
CONDITION
The Memomaster was a watch that could do it all. Full calendar, alarm, timer, backlight (which is still working in the very dull way they always did) and even told the time. But the agenda was the unique selling point at the time – you could have the calendar set an alarm for a future date. The downside is you had to remember what the alarm was for! Nowadays that feature has been replaced with numerous devices, but back in 1979 it was cutting edge. With digital watches we don’t use the term calibre, but module, and this is module 1642. We show in the video how to set it up, and that also verifies that all the pushers are working correctly. The aluminium insert above the glass is very good, but the glass does have some chips and scratches. We will install brand new batteries before sending the watch out to the new owner and set the watch up to their timezone. The bracelet is the original part and doesn’t need any special tools to adjust, as the sliding catch means it will fit quite large wrists. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath.
