With the TV dial and accurate movement, this Seiko King Quartz was something to have back in 1978. Model reference 5856-5020 or QHB100.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in May 1978.
CONDITION
The three best Seiko watches you could buy in 1978 were the Superior (¥180,000), Grand Quartz (¥100,000) and King Quartz, with this example costing ¥60,000. In the same catalogue a mechanical, automatic Seiko chronograph was ¥19,000, so at this point in history Quartz watches were aspirational and expensive next to their old fashioned mechanical cousins. This example has the beveled crystal with is in good order, and unusually patterned dial and quick set day and date. The day can be set to either English or Kanji. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The bracelet is full length and can be adjusted on the KQ signed sliding clasp without the need for special tools. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown, clasp.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
