A highly original King Quartz from Seiko, complete with the original full length bracelet. Model reference 4823-8100.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in November 1977. We have found the original brochure for this watch, showing it retailing at ¥48,000. For context, a Grand Quartz started at ¥70,000 but an automatic chronograph could be had for ¥20,000 in the same year.
CONDITION
The King Quartz Seiko is an upper mid range from Seiko, not quite as accurate as the Grand Quartz but better than most. This one is unusually original, as often the bracelets get replaced over the years. The case is unpolished, but therefore does show marks from being used – this is preferable to a poor polish of course. The dial is original, with just a few marks. The movement is still running well, and is within half a second a day accurate. Both day and date can be quick set, and you can choose between English and Kanji for the day wheel display. We will install a brand new battery before sending the watch out to the new owner. The original bracelet, part XGA580, is full length, and is adjusted via the signed sliding clasp. The bracelet has been cleaned in our ultrasonic bath. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and clasp.
