A fabulous blue dial makes this stainless steel automatic Seiko even more collectible. Model reference 7009-8028
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in July 1977. It is possible the watch was made in 1987, but the styling is far more 70’s than 80’s when we compare to the Seiko catalogues of the time.
CONDITION
The watch arrived on the original bracelet. Standard Seiko bracelets of this period are not great – thin metal that stretches and every gap fills with dirt. So we cleaned up the bracelet and it revealed some previous repairs, so we are including the bracelet in the sale and the watch will be sent on the new blue leather strap shown in the pictures. The video shows the bracelet at first, before we switched. The movement is the 7009A automatic wind only original Seiko item, and this has quick set day and date – you push the crown inwards to change the day, and the day wheel is in English and French. The blue dial is the main attraction here though, and that is in great condition. It also has the logo for the Daini factory in Japan, and the dial and hand combination is very legible. The acrylic crystal has been polished to remove most scratches, and it doesn’t have any chips to the edges either.
