HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in April 1975.
CONDITION
The mid seventies saw the most developed electronic movements ever, but their development soon stopped as companies switched their R&D budgets to making more accurate and cheaper to produce quartz movements. So this was Citizen’s final Cosmotron movement, calibre 7804, and it has some neat tricks. It is a transistor controlled fixed coil design and the movement beats at 36,000, or ten times a second, whereas most transistor fixed movements are half of that. The movement also has quick set for both day and date, and it is operated by a unique to our knowledge method that we have demonstrated in the video. The day wheel is in Kanji and English. The silver dial is clean and has a slight texture to it that is not at first noticeable. This is a more conservative design, without the faceted crystals or lurid coloured dials found in some of these. The stainless steel case has not been polished so will show scratches and the occasional dink, but if it were perfect then the watch would be more expensive. The reversible rubber strap is new, and could be swapped for a leather strap if preferred.
