HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1974. However the case back also has a date engraved for 1978, which may have been when it was sold.
CONDITION
This Omega De Ville is on the larger side of ladies watches, and features a hand wound movement. It is large enough to be considered unisex, but we know because the model reference code starts with a 5 that Omega intended this as a ladies watch. That is Omega’s own calibre 625, which has seventeen jewels and and is all working well. Simply wind the signed crown 10-15 times before wearing the watch and it will run for over 24 hours, no batteries ever needed. The case would have been gold plated at one point, but that has been polished off – you can still see hints of the plating in certain angles. The dial has some patina, but is original. The brown leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.
