This Omega men’s watch was made and sold (by Harrods) in 1978, but has a case back engraving for 1973. Very original.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the caliber 1030 manual wind Omega movement we know this watch was made on 1978. The paperwork is from one of the World’s most prestigious stores, Harrods of London, is also dated for 1978. The case back engraving is to mark 25 years service between 1948 and 1973, so we can only assume it was given retrospectively.
CONDITION
The watch has hardly been worn. The original strap is still fitted, although we will replace this for safety and include the original in the package. The dial has an unusual finish, almost like clouds, and we can not be sure if that is intentional or from age. The watch still has its (faded) cardboard outer box, marked in pencil with the original owners name (this matches the paperwork and inscription). The original acrylic crystal, complete with tiny Omega logo in the centre, is still fitted. This must be one of the best examples available.
