HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in November 1972.
CONDITION
No one does an electric blue dial as well as Seiko did in the 1970’s. It really is outstanding and will not disappoint. The rest of the won’t either. Inside the stainless steel TV style case you have the automatic wind only movement calibre 7006 (the first part of 7006-6019 model reference). This has quick set date and a day wheel in English only. The serial number on the back seems to have been damaged in the past, possibly deliberately, but is still perfectly legible. On this watch the whole movement and crystal sit as one in the case, and is released by clips hidden in the lugs – we have a photo of the inner and outer case side by side to demonstrate this. The fabric strap is new, with stitching to match the dial, and could be swapped for a different strap if preferred. Originally the watch would have had a bracelet, as shown in the catalogue picture. The case size is large for the period, and the crown sitting within a recess does protect it rather well.
