HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in February 1971.
CONDITION
The Skyliner range has become more and more collectible, as more people recognise the fundamentals in the design are so right. Much like the modern SARB Seikos, this has the look of a Grand Seiko on a far smaller budget, and the basic proportions are just right. So are the building blocks – a fully stainless steel case, and a good 21 jewel manual wind movement (in this case the calibre 61A.) All is running well. The dial is original and the sword hands do add to the Grand Seiko appearance. The case is in good condition but the bezel does have a crack near the crown. The bezel is still secure and tight though. The original bracelet, marked XAA on the end links, is still a good length and will fit most wrists. We have cleaned the bracelet in our ultrasonic bath – essential on any older folding link bracelet as dirt hides in every nook and cranny.
