With a square, key-bolt compressor case, this Seamaster has some extra sauce in the co-signed dial from Omega’s retail partner Turler. Model reference 166.0042.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1969.
CONDITION
Türler, like other high end retailers such as Tiffany or Meister, would have their name added to the dials of some of the watches they sold and this now makes those watches more collectible – but with this being an Omega, sold in bigger numbers than some brands, it will not add the fortunes that a Tiffany signed Patek or Rolex would demand. But it does add a little, especially once you factor in the rarer case shape that this Seamaster has. The movement Omega chose to use was their calibre 565, a 24 jewel automatic with swan neck fine adjustment that was a staple of the late 1960’s for Omega. It has quick set date, operated by pulling the crown outwards. The case does come apart as designed – sometimes this style of case can seize, not allowing any access to the movement, so always worth checking. The case also has a graze near two worth pointing out. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement and crown.
