HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1969. This model was first launched in the 1968 international collection.
CONDITION
The branded Fixo-Flex bracelet is a rare item. We can tell by the model code that this watch was designed to have a leather strap, so the Fixo-Flex would have been an option at the supplying dealer. And over the years these expanding bracelets have often been damaged or thrown away – they are dirt traps, and require a lot of time to clean to have them presentable for resale. We have taken that time to put this bracelet through our ultrasonic bath several times, with the final clean being done by hand, as shown in the video the results are worth it. If you decided to wear this watch on a leather strap that can be done too, as the lugs are a standard 18mm size. The watch itself has a manual wind calibre 601 movement, and these copper coloured movements are too sought after. It is running well. The case is stainless steel, the acrylic crystal is the signed Omega one as is the crown. The dial is clean and flat, and has the applied logo that Omega started to print on dials shortly after 1969 to save money. The slim case is thinner than automatic versions of this watch, as you do not need to allow the extra depth the auto movements need.
