A high specification ladies Bulova watch from 1969, complete with original box. Model reference 592.1
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1969. The movement was made in 1968, but could not have been paired together with the case until 1969.
CONDITION
Ladies watches are often the poor cousins of men’s watches, using lower specification cases and movements. But not in this ladies Bulova. The case is 40 micron gold plated – twice as thick as many good quality watches. The case back is stainless steel, and screws onto the case for better water resistance – again unusual on a ladies watch. The movement is an in house Bulova 78PC, with centre seconds, when hours and minutes were the norm for ladies watches. The bracelet may not be made by Bulova as it is not stamped. This could easily be swapped for a leather strap is preferred. The watch is all in good condition, as is the original box, with just a small chip to the edge of the glass near three being the only mark to show the watch’s age.
