This 1968 Omega is from the De Ville model line, that at this period in time overlapped the Seamaster models too.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the in house movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1968.

CONDITION

Something here should set off alarm bells.  The dial is marked De Ville, and the case back is marked Seamaster.  However, if you google the model number (165.008) you will see some watches marked Seamaster, some De Ville and some have both sub brands on the dial.  In fact, Omega’s own website shows the dial in the same formation as this watch, and as the model number is embossed on the inside of the Seamaster marked case back we are all happy that this watch is correct.

The case is in rolled gold, which is far thicker than gold plate so you don’t get the wear issues that are associated with gold plate even after 50 years.  The dial is very good.  The acrylic crystal has been polished to remove most marks, and is signed in the centre with the Omega symbol.  Inside is the 24 jewel calibre 711, Omega’s thinnest ever automatic movement.  We have fitted a new stem and crown using genuine Omega parts, and all is now working well.  The patterned leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different style if required.  The buckle is not an Omega item.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
