A stainless steel Certina Town and Country square cased watch, in lovely condition and very wearable.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the case back we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1967.
CONDITION
Certina had different levels of case finish, and the best ones are not chrome or gold plated. This case has four clamshell like screws holding the case back to the case front. Inside the case is an in house Certina 25-661 movement, which is manual wind and has semi quick set date. These are very well made, and beautifully finished, as vintage Certina watch owners already know. The Town and Country models were not around for long, but this excellent website on vintage Certina has a picture of the 1967 German catalogue that features the gold plated version of this watch. We do not know why they are marked both T+C and Town and Country on the dial – surely one would be fine? The strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if you wanted – the drilled lugs make strap changing easy to change the look.
This watch is very similar in style and quality to the Zenith Respirator, but are currently half the price.
This watch will be supplied with a presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
