In what is sometimes called a Bison case, this Glashutte Spezimatic vintage men’s watch is a little special due the rare blue dial.

HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?

From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in the first few months of 1966.

CONDITION

This model of watch is popular for a number of reasons.  One of them is that they are a good size, yet very comfortable to wear.  Another reason is undoubtedly the halo effect of the Glashutte Original revised brand, but these are far higher quality and many thousands of pounds more.  Both can be found in the Museum of German watchmaking, in the pretty town of Glashutte, along with A. Lange and Sohne, Tutima, Muhle and other brands all originating from this same small town.

A lot of the square cased watches have Bison on the dial, and that is why the case has developed this nickname.  Most are gold plated, but we have never seen a blue dial version before so we had to get it.  These in house calibre 75 movements are very slim for automatics, and with 26 jewels they are well made.  The chromed case on this example does have a few knocks, but the wear to the plate is only really visible from behind.  The starburst graining is still easy to see.  The hands have a different colour lume to the hour markers, so this may have been repainted on the hands (as these still glow).  The strap is new and picks up the colour of the dial.

This watch will be supplied with our Certificate of Authenticity.
