This men’s Zenith Sporto has the original crown and buckle, and is a very wearable watch.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial numbers on the movement and between the lugs we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1962. This watch also has the earlier signed buckle and crown that had both been replaced by 1965 by different designs.
CONDITION
The Sporto range was introduced by Zenith in 1958, and this watch does not have the Sporto logo on the dial, but instead on the inside of the case back. We can see a very similar, just slightly later model in the official Zenith history book and we have taken a picture of our watch next to that. This watch does have some patina on the dial, particularly near 6, but it is not without a charm that is difficult to describe. This watch has the 18 jewel, manual wind zenith calibre 2511 movement, which is working well since we replaced parts of the keyless works mechanism. It now sets and winds exactly as it should do, and it keeps good time too. Whilst not perfect, this Sporto model has more than enough about it to be a very nice wrist companion. The leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour if preferred.
This watch will be supplied with our branded presentation box and our Certificate of Authenticity.
