A classic ladies 1959 Omega cocktail watch, with a few extra little details more than average. Model reference 2815.
HOW DO WE DATE THIS WATCH?
From the serial number on the movement we can accurately date this watch to being made in 1959.
CONDITION
It really is amazing that watches this small were made with manually wound 17 jewel movements. This mechanical calibre 244 Omega movement is only 13.5mm x 18mm, is antimagnetic, shock protected, has dozens of different components yet only weighs 3.6g – complete with the dial and hands! And all this micro engineering is still working well. The crown looks a little odd being gold plated, but that could be a design choice to match the hands and applied Arabic hour markers. Normally most dials are printed, so the applied markers give an 3D element that works well. The crown is signed, as is the crystal, with the Ω logo. The stainless steel case is in good order too, but the dial does have some patina. What looks like a dent on the top left lug is actually a case makers mark – that would never be allowed today! The chestnut brown leather strap is new, and could be swapped for a different colour or material if preferred. The watch is signed on the dial, case, movement, crown and crystal.
